Liko Finds a Flower (2022)

Liko lives on the Hawaiian Island of Maui, where disease threatens his favorite and primary food source, flowers from the ‘Ōhi’a tree. As he scavenges the island of Maui, he remains joyful, teaching young boys and girls ages 10–12, although the color palette greater appeals to boys. Liko’s species, the Scarlet Honeycreeper, and their feathers, are a very valued item in Hawaiian culture. Liko’s story and the real threat of extinction of the Scarlet Honeycreeper are best told through a stop motion clay animation series that gives life to his optimistic attitude. Children are sure to be left sore from smiling and laughing with this bubbly guy.
